Unitronics' Remote Operator 2.1.10

The Remote Operator application provides remote access to Unitronics controllers through smartphones and tablets. It offers the ability to view and operate the controller’s HMI as if physically present at the device, facilitating comprehensive management of automation processes. Users can monitor system parameters, interact with HMI objects, adjust settings, and review alarms and trend data in real time. The application supports multi-controller management from a single device.

First-time Setup Procedure

1. Launch Remote Operator.
2. Create a secure password and configure recovery options.
3. Tap OK; you will see an initially empty Favorites screen.

The process of adding PLCs to Favorites or Groups involves tapping the "+" icon to initiate configuration. Users will input a unique nickname (optional), verify the PLC Name matches exactly as configured (including case sensitivity), and specify the IP address and port details ensuring correct formatting (e.g., 10.0.0.37). Assigning PLCs to groups is facilitated through a dropdown menu. Users can test connectivity before saving changes or delete PLC entries by swiping left on the list item.

Group management is performed by accessing the Groups menu from Favorites, where users can add new groups by specifying names and comments. Navigation controls include arrows for transitioning between screens and a menu button for revealing additional options like hiding or showing the application bar.

Operationally, active PLCs are indicated with a green hand icon. Tapping on these units grants remote access, displaying their HMI panel along with a red Application Bar that shows the connected PLC’s name, connection duration, and control options such as switching between View Only and Full Control modes. Additional controls allow adjusting refresh rates, pausing sessions, or disconnecting entirely.

For detailed PLC information, users can tap the information icon ("i") to access communication settings—able to edit connection details and verify PLC connectivity—as well as system information retrieved from the device when connected or from last session data when disconnected. Location data and comments can also be added or modified within this interface; removing a PLC from favorites is achieved by unchecking its “Add to Favorites” option.

The application’s Settings menu allows customization of startup behavior—automatically loading communications on launch—and sharing configurations via a file. Users can export their setup as Share.unitronics files and import them on other devices with Remote Operator installed.
